    • You Are God’s Garden!

Posted at 9:00 am by wonderfuljesus8, on April 16, 2020

1 Corinthians 3:9 -For we are God’s fellow workers [His servants working together]; you are God’s cultivated field [His garden, His vineyard], God’s building. AMP

The phrase, “you are God’s garden” has been turning over in my mind for the past few days; and you’ve guessed it, I had to blog about it.

In verse 6 of this same chapter, Paul wrote, “I did the planting, Apollos did the watering, but it was God who gave the increase”.

Look at the image of the garden! It’s gorgeous! I wouldn’t want the responsibility of it, but I would love to view it every day. That’s an image of you, from heaven’s point of view. It’s how He sees you! Growing more beautiful every day, with vibrant colors, and a variety of flowers, you are a God’s garden!

Who decides what is planted in this garden? Paul said that he did the planting. Paul was the one who sowed the seed of God’s word to the Corinthian believers. God’s word, His promises, are the seed for your garden. The planting in your garden is based on the word that you hear, read, study, or embrace. Although He sees the end product, beautiful, luscious, vibrant, and well groomed, ultimately, you are responsible for the seed that is planted in your garden. Remember, Jesus said that the seed sown was the word of God.

Another important ingredient to the well being of a garden is water. Paul said Apollos watered. Apollos came after Paul and watered that seed that Paul had planted. This analogy was based on the ministry they were cultivating in Corinth; but for us, it’s about our own personal garden, our heart. So your garden needs water. This is where you allow the Holy Spirit to help you in the growth of the word. As you meditate on the word of God, rehearse, pray it, sing it, rejoice over it, you are watering your garden. David loved God’s word! He was always watering his garden with the word, “oh how I love your law, it’s the meditation of my heart, thy word have I hid in my heart, your word is forever settled in my heart.”

When you plant God’s word in your heart, His promises, you need to water that seed to see it produce what you are expecting and believing Him for. The word for healing could be, “Father, you wounded Jesus for my transgressions and with His stripes I was healed. I’m so grateful for that. I rejoice in that truth and accept that truth over my symptoms! Thank you! Thank you for driving sickness and disease away from me. Thank you for saying healing is my bread! You are so wonderful to me like that! I receive your medicine, oh God, and I know it is done!”

Then, God gives the increase! When we are cultivating the word of God in our hearts, and watering it with praise, thanksgiving, and meditation, that’s the end of our responsibility. Now, you trust God to bring increase into your garden. Healing, peace, blessings, favor, mercy, whatever you are believing for! He watches over His word to perform it!

Right now, you don’t see the beautiful garden of your heart, that God sees. You may only see a dry and parched land. But it’s not too late to begin sowing seed and pouring water into your garden. Trust the Holy Spirit to assist you in the redesigning of your garden. Let Him help you pick out your plants: healing, peace, deliverance, love, joy, and whatever else that will cause your garden to be something that others will enjoy! That you will flourish within!

You! Are! God’s! Garden! Work with Him to make you something that will last for all eternity! Wonderful Jesus!

John 2:7-8,10-11 – “Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it…And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!” This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.”
      NKJV

Have you ever stopped and wondered why Jesus’ first miracle was turning water to wine at a wedding? I remember when our children were younger they watched the Superbook cartoons. I believe in one of the episodes they portrayed Jesus and His disciples at the wedding in Cana; the bride and groom was upset about not having enough wine, and Mary went to Jesus. Then He turned the water to wine and the first miracle happened.

I don’t know if any of that really happened, but I do know that since this was the first miracle that Jesus performed and that this miracle is a sign that points to Him being the Son of God, that something else was going on. As I was thinking about this miracle, I had a thought that I want to share.

First, let’s begin with the miracle, water was turned to wine. Mary told Jesus of the need and He remarked that His time had not yet come, and what did this have to do with Him? (In my blog, “Faith is a Time Changer” I expound a little more on this). Mary responded by turning to the servants of the wedding and telling them to do whatever He tells them to do. This seems to be one of the first steps in getting a miracle. When you ask for a miracle, listen for instructions from Him, then obey them!

We are told that there are 6 water pots, each capable of holding about 30 gallons of water. Jesus told the servants to fill the water pots with water. They obey Him, filling the pots to the brim. He then tells them to dip water and take it to the master of the feast. (By the way, they have been celebrating for about a week already). From the time the water is dipped out of the pot to the tasting of the water, it becomes wine. Not only the water in the dipper, but in all the pots. A miracle has happened. No one has duplicated this miracle. If you want wine, you need grapes, not water!

However, I did hear a testimony of a missionary who was driving through some dangerous terrain when he ran out of gas. While praying about the situation he saw water nearby and the thought came to him that if God could turn water into wine, He could turn water into gasoline. He got out of the car, got the water and poured it into his tank! And voila! His car started and he made it safely to his destination! Please don’t do this without His instructions!!

The success of this miracle was in the obedience of the servants. Jesus gave instructions and they were followed to the letter. We don’t know why they obeyed Him, but we do know that they didn’t add to or take from His instructions. Neither did they stop to figure out why Mary asked for wine, and why He was telling them to get water. (Like some of us would gripe and complain about)!

Why a wedding for the first miracle? I was thinking about that when God reminded me of an assignment I had in Bible School. I was given an assignment to write about the motifs of the Bible. Of course, I was clueless to what a motif was and google was yet to be discovered. I waited until a few days before the assignment was due and approached my professor. (I am still a little put out with him for giving me a grade of a D, then writing on the assignment that it was because I procrastinated. Humm, my principal would have my head)!! Anyway, he explained to me that a motif is a theme or a pattern that is in the Bible.

When the Holy Spirit reminded me that He works in motifs I saw where He was going with that. Jesus started with a wedding because all that He did will end with a wedding. The wedding of the Bride of Christ! I have absolutely never thought of this before, so I will have to say I received revelation on this last night as I was thinking about this blog! And when you think about new wine, it is symbolic of the Holy Spirit! He provided new wine in abundance as He would release His Spirit in abundance upon His Bride! And water is symbolic of the word, Jesus! He can be so deep! All of this beautiful imagery of God the Father in what seems to be a simple answer to a need in someone’s life! Amazing!

This is why I believe that the first miracle, which points to Jesus as the Son of God happened at a wedding! Why did Mary have to say anything? I don’t know for sure, but I do know that she pondered every thing that she was told about her son! I believe that she recognized that it was His time and it was up to her to use her faith to help and push Him into His purpose.

This coronavirus is a terrible pandemic. What is going on around the world is hard to take in. But I believe that this is also a time of destiny for the Body of Christ. I believe that God will use all that is happening to strengthen His Bride in these last days. I also believe that for some of us, it is our time to step into our destiny for the time is getting short. If not now, then when? When we will begin to dare to believe in the Savior who gave so much for us? When will we step out into the unknown realm and dare to believe that a miracle is waiting on the other side!

I just made that leap of faith and have officially started a teaching ministry, Wonderful Jesus Ministries! The funny thing about the name is that I meant to put Ministry instead of Ministries. I had to laugh at myself and say to the Lord, “How did I make that mistake? I don’t have a ministry let alone, ministries!” Anyway, during this time off I am using it for good, to identify what I am being called to do with this ministry, to spend time in prayer and fasting about it, and to send out words of encouragement and teachings to those of you who read my blog. Thanks for your continued support and know that I covet your prayers for this ministry! Wonderful Jesus!

    • His Ardent Desire!

Posted at 3:50 am by wonderfuljesus8, on March 1, 2020

Psalm 27:13 – I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. NIV

In the church we have a saying, actually an echo: “The Lord is good, all the time! And all the time, the Lord is good!” Some of us have even taken to saying, “The Lord is good on purpose, and the Lord is good to me!” At least, that’s what I have begun to say!

David had the right attitude about God! He wasn’t waiting for the time that he would die and be with God to experience God’s goodness! He was confident that God’s goodness would be a reality in his life on the earth. As a matter of fact, he said he would have given up on life if he couldn’t expect the goodness of God to be a part of his life. That’s’ how good God was to Him!

David was so conscious of the goodness of God that he said that God’s goodness would follow him all the days of his life. (Psalm 23)! He knew that God’s goodness went far beyond a statement or a cliche. In Psalm 33, David stated that the earth was full of the goodness of the Lord and His goodness endures forever (Psalm 52). He not only knew of God’s personal goodness to Him, but he simply believed that God was just plain ole good to everybody and that He would never stop being good!

So what is God’s goodness? God’s goodness is His mercy, His favor, or His kindness extended to us. The Hebrew word “chacad” literally means to “bow from the neck only in courtesy to an equal”. This renders the picture of God nodding in our direction, His favor, as if we are somehow on His level! Just His nodding in our favor is enough! And in the Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon it also is noted to have a meaning of being “an eager and ardent desire by which any one is led”. So not only is God’s goodness His nod in our direction, but His heart is one of eagerness and of an ardent (passionate) desire that leads Him in how He deals with us!

We are so unaware of just how much God wants to bestow His goodness in our lives. We go through this life thinking that anything good that happens to us is miraculous or unexpected, but we serve an amazing God who loves us and passionately desires to favor us. Can you imagine that? All of our lives we may have been taught that we have to be good, read the Bible, beg God for things, or hope for the best in life, when David discovered long ago that God’s ardent desire is to nod towards us! It’s simply how He flows!

Tonight as I am writing this blog, I have gotten excited myself. I know of God’s favor and have experienced it a lot in my life. Some call me blessed, some call me lucky, but God the Father favors me in ways that only He can fathom. And even in that, I can easily forget how willing He is to nod towards me.

On our wedding day, it rained cats and dogs. But God gently told me that is was just symbolic of how He would bless our marriage. And after 33 years of marriage, there is no denying that He followed through. I had to quit college for a lack of funds and it nearly broke my heart, but He spoke to me and said that I would have several degrees, and I do. He worked it out! I was upset one day because I felt like I was working hard, but I wasn’t getting a lot of money for my effort. He spoke to me and said, your check will become your tithe. And that has happened, and more than that!

But He isn’t just good to me. He’s good to us all. Every day is a day He favors us. He wakes us in our right mind, He keeps watch over us in the night, He protects us so much we take our safety for granted, and He provides for us so well, we think we are doing it. He is passionate with His goodness to mankind, but more especially to His people. So today, or tomorrow (depending on when you read this blog), remember to thank Him for His goodness and then begin to live like you know the King of kings has nodded in your direction and the blessings are going to flow in your life like never before! He’s good on purpose and He is good to you! Wonderful Jesus!

    • The Shout of Victory!

Posted at 7:00 am by wonderfuljesus8, on February 11, 2020

Joshua 6:16 – And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city!

You would be hard pressed today to find someone who has not heard of the battle of Jericho. Songs and movies have been made about this great victory; but just in case you are one of the few who have not heard, I will give you an abbreviated account.

The children of Israel had arrived at the Jordan. It was time to go across into the land of Canaan to take possession of their promised land, their inheritance. Joshua sent two spies to check out the land, and while they were doing reconnaissance they met Rahab. She hides the spies, lies to her countrymen, then makes a deal for her life and the lives of her family members (chapter 2).

Then the children of Israel arrives at the Jordan and again God parts the waters as He did with the Red Sea. Do you think the people of Canaan was oblivious to this parting of the river? I don’t think so! I think this only heightened their fear of Joshua and the children of Israel. Sometimes when we are in a battle, all we see is the obvious; but we have to realize that God is strategically handle the situation on our behalf. The Canaanites were already afraid of the God who parted the Red Sea and now He is parting the Jordan! This was no coincidence!

After they cross over the Jordan, the manna ceased. The interesting thing to note about the manna is that God had miraculously supplied manna for them while in the wilderness, but in the promised land, provision was waiting and they had no more need of manna. Some say they no longer needed a miracle so it stopped! I think that the possessing of the land was quite miraculous and the miracles didn’t stop, they took on another form!

The city of Jericho was on lockdown! There was no natural way to get inside the city without assistance. Archaeologists have proven that the city was surrounded by two walls and that houses were built in the walls. They also discovered that the Canaanites could have lasted for years under siege because they had a great water supply and had stored up many provisions. This was probably known to the spies and told to Joshua, Joshua didn’t know how he was going to win this battle, he just knew that he would!

God gave Joshua some unusual instructions for attacking Jericho! Joshua was told that they were to march around the city once for six days. When they marched, the procession was to be led by the men of war, followed by seven priests playing seven trumpets in front of the ark (continuously), and behind the ark bearing priests there were to be more men of war. Not a sound was to be made otherwise! Then they returned to the camp. I can just imagine the look on the faces of the people of Canaan. They had to be wondering what in the world were the children of Israel doing? What kind of battle strategy was this? Why do they keep blowing that horn? And the sounds of the feet marching was probably magnified to them inciting fear beyond reason! What were they waiting for? What did they hope to accomplish with all of this marching? Simple instructions and frightening at the same time.

However, on the seventh day the instructions changed. They were to march around the city seven times and when they heard the sound of the trumpet, all the people were to shout with a great shout, then the walls would fall flat! Can I just stop here to say that I wonder what Joshua was feeling at these instructions? Joshua, a mighty warrior, who have fought several battles with the Lord, is being told that his strategy for his first major war as leader of Israel is to march around the city?! Whatever he was feeling, he obeyed God! That’s a lesson all by itself!

I remember reading a testimony of a person who was told by God to hit someone with a banana and they would be healed. Of course, the person thought that this was pretty ridiculous and couldn’t possibly be from God. Later that day, I think he was at a conference, the speaker said something like, “If God tells you to get a banana and hit someone with it, you need to obey God!” He instantly knew he was being rebuked, but moved to obey God and saw a miracle! Joshua needed no such confirmation! He trusted that this strategy would get the job done! There is no record of a discourse like Moses had with God at the burning bush when he said he couldn’t speak! No, Joshua simply obeyed God and the walls came tumbling down!

Battles are tough! But they don’t always have to be. One word from God can turn your entire situation around. That’s why I love reading about the battles in the Old Testament. They help me to understand that God’s instructions are as unique as the situations. He is no cookie cutter God and what He told Bertha to do to win her battle, may not be what He tells you! Some battles are won with much fasting and prayer! Some are won with speaking the word! But some are won with a shout! Joshua understood that his sure victory was in hearing from God! And that’s the lesson I take from this battle! If you are facing a battle or in the midst of a battle, your victory will depend on your battle plan! Make sure it’s the one the Lord is backing! Shout, for He has given you the city! Wonderful Jesus!

    • Bearing the Mark!

Posted at 1:00 pm by wonderfuljesus8, on January 21, 2020

Galatians 6:17 -From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

It’s amazing to me how I can read the Bible and after so many years, and so many times reading it, can find something interesting, something that stands out or speak to me, as if I have never read it before. Such was the case with this scripture.

I wrote a blog on the thorn in Paul’s flesh during my first year of blogging. I’ve often wondered how people read that and feel that Paul was referring to some sickness that would not go away. And when I read this chapter, I often wondered why Paul said that the Galatians would have plucked out their eyes to give to him (4:16). But as I read it a couple nights ago, I had a different thought that I wanted to share with you.

For some reason when I read this scripture I thought of the famous picture of the slave that was flogged, and how they had photographed his back to show the marks of his beatings. It resembles vines to me. And I don’t even want to think about the pain he obviously endured.

As I read the above verse, and I thought of this picture, it was if I understood these words and what Paul was trying to convey. Let me explain:

In 2 Corinthians 11:23, Paul shares a long list of many of the things he suffered. Things that are not talked about in detail in the Bible. But Paul mentions that he was beaten by the Jews five times with 39 lashes, three times he was beaten with rods, and he was even stoned. Look at this man’s back. We are clueless as to how many times he was whipped, but the scars are there, evidence of what he had to bear.

After Jesus was beaten, before His crucifixion, it is said of Him that there was no beauty in Him that we should desire Him (Isaiah 53). What do you suppose that Paul looked like after 5 beatings with cords, three beatings with rods, and a stoning? I would say, that he was scarred pretty badly. Especially immediately following one of these beatings when he was probably bloody, swollen, and barely able to move. I can well imagine if you had seen him after one of these beatings, you would have turned away from looking at him, as would most people. As they did to Jesus! And if you knew him, you would have wanted to offer him whatever you could, even you eyes, if you thought it would ease the pain that he was carrying.

When he was stoned, dragged out of the city, and thrown outside the gates, because they thought he was dead; he had to be pretty bad off. But the disciples gathered around him, and probably prayed, and God raised him up!

Even in that, he was probably pretty scarred up. And in his thinking, I am sure, for him, they were the marks of Christ that he bore in his body. Marks, that in some ways, caused others to be offended by his presence, but marks that were a testament of the sufferings he endured for the Lord, sufferings Jesus warned him about. (See Acts 9:13).

I believe Paul’s body was healed multiple times by the Lord, but that doesn’t mean that He removed the scars from His body. Could He have done that? Yes, of course He could! But did He do that? I’m not so sure.

If you read Galatians from beginning to end, this book’s theme could easily be about circumcision as we know it was the mark of Judaism. But in this verse, Paul is basically stating that he doesn’t want to keep answering to circumcision when he carries the marks of Jesus in his body.

Someone once said to me that they wanted to have a scripture tattooed on their body so that people would know that they loved Jesus. But the word says that God will write them in our hearts. (Hebrews 8:10) We don’t need to intentionally mark up our bodies to show that we love and honor God. But sometimes, scars are left after the battle!

You see, I got to thinking about the scars, or marks of the Lord Jesus that we as Christians can bear. I would venture to say that those who are persecuted for their faith in Pakistan, Russia, Syria, Tanzania, India and many other countries, could easily identify with Paul. They too have suffered greatly for the faith in the Lord. They have hidden in secret meetings to have fellowship. They have been dragged out of their homes, thrown into prison, beaten, killed, stoned, and all sorts of heartrending experiences for the cause of Christ. But I have no such story, no such pain. So I won’t belittle what they experience and try to glorify what I have experienced to say that I too bear marks in my body for the gospel! I salute their courage in the face of adversity and their stand for the Lord! May God send protecting and ministering spirits to assist them in their walk!

But the scars in my soul I can talk about! And maybe, just maybe you can identify with them both! It is for you, my fellow believers around the world, who know firsthand what Paul went through, because you are living it every day, that I write this blog. I am thinking of you, praying for you this day! And I just wanted to take some time and let you know that you are not forgotten! You are on the Father’s heart, and He has placed you on the hearts of so many others! Be encouraged and stand in the faith! Wonderful Jesus!

    • Show Forth His Excellency!

Posted at 4:11 am by wonderfuljesus8, on December 2, 2019

1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

This verse is packed with the wonderful benefits afforded the believer. I’d like to remind you once again what Peter is saying to us about who were are:

      • A chosen generation-as such, we get the benefit of His protection and access to His kingdom. We are also share the same status with the Father that Jesus has.

      • A royal priesthood- a kingly priesthood. We’ve been elevated to not only sonship, but royalty that identifies us as being kings. And in our kingly status, we offer up sacrifices to the King of kings.

      • A holy nation-we are holy because His holiness comes into contact with us (after we are redeemed) causing us to be holy. And because He is holy, He places a demand on us to also live a life that exemplifies holiness.

      • God’s own special possession-acquired by our Heavenly Father with the precious Blood of Jesus and made to be His treasured possession.

Now we get to the good stuff! Why would He do all of this for us? Why would He take “a wretch, a dirty ole sinner, a good for nothing slouch” and place him or her in His wonderful kingdom, giving us the status of a king priest, the status of Jesus, and call us His holy, treasured possession? Well, first and foremost because He loves us.

Many people say they found the Lord, when in actuality He was never lost. We were the ones lost, and He sent Jesus to give His life’s blood at Calvary to redeem us because of that love. So that’s the first and most important reason. And although I have brought that point out before, it needed to be made again. Oh how He loves you and me!!

But according to this verse in 1 Peter, chapter 2, He did all of this that we might show forth His praises! Even if I didn’t do a word study on this part, I think it’s pretty clear what is being stating in this verse. But let’s check it out anyway!

The Greek word, “exangello” is used in this verse and literally means “to tell out, proclaim abroad, to publish completely”. The Greek word for praise is “arete” and doesn’t mean praise as we think of it; but it means virtue, or excellence.

We weren’t given this citizenship in the kingdom to just go around saying praise God, although that’s fine; but all of this was done that we might spread abroad or publish completely God’s excellency. One commentator wrote that this word “arete” is better translated “wonderful deeds”. Looking at it from that perspective, our very lives are to be a proclamation of the wonderful deeds of a loving God, our Father!

Another thing about the Father, is He reigns supreme over all, and His Excellency has a lot to do with place or position of power. We proclaim His greatness, His power, His wonderful deeds, His excellency. I love to read Christian historical fiction, and I am most drawn by the era of the aristocrats: dukes, earls, lords and ladies. The finery, the social system, the status and power of the aristocrats, when they weren’t the villains, is quite impressive. But more impressive than that, is the excellency of our God. Isaiah said it like this, “They shall see the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our God.” (Isaiah 35) How? Through us proclaiming it!

So if you’ve been one of those whiny Christians that have spent time saying, “You never know what God will do!” Or, “I was better off when I was in the world!” Or any of those negative things that make it sound as if being a Christian is boring, difficult, a hardship, or not worth it, you need to stop it! And then you need to get acquainted with His Excellency King Jesus so that you can experience the God that loves you so deeply!

In my next blog I will complete this verse! You don’t want to miss it! Wonderful Jesus!

    • The Comforted Becomes the Comforter!

Posted at 4:00 pm by wonderfuljesus8, on November 2, 2019

2 Corinthians 1:3-4- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Trouble comes to us all! It’s sad, but it’s true. No one is exempt from the troubles of life. Black, White, Asian or Mexican; rich, poor, or middle class; old, young, or teen; it doesn’t matter. Trouble comes. And even worst, some of us experience our shares of trouble and enough to go around. How can we reconcile a loving God with all that we have to deal with? Some times it really can be a challenge, but getting the right perspective on the matter helps!

Paul says that God is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort! A lot of people see this only in times of grief, but God really is the Comforter. He’s there for the person who has been abandoned by a spouse or parent. He is there is for the person who has been abused in any manner. He is there to help through the painful loss of a loved one. And yes, He’s even there in the loss of our possessions. But we have to allow Him to be that comfort, and some times we have to open our eyes and realize He is there. There in the midst of the pain, the loss, the confusion. He didn’t cause it, He didn’t even allow it to happen, but it did! And He is waiting for you to allow Him to comfort you.

When my mother died, I was about 9 years old, and I clearly remember someone telling me that God took my mother because He needed her. Well, that sounded pretty cruel to me, because how could He need her more than I did? I didn’t get it! But I give Him praise that in-spite of the mixed messages I received that day and throughout my growing years, I have found Him to be a good God and a very loving Father. And I don’t believe for one second that He took her because He needed her. Actually, I don’t believe He took her. Disease took her! A lack of medical knowledge and treatment may have assisted it. But God did not!

      Whatever the tribulation…

I heard Pastor Joel Osteen share how his mother was healed of cancer in the late 1980s and how once she was healed, she began going to the hospital to pray with others who was going through cancer treatment. She was able to speak to them in a way that said, “I have walked in your shoes. I know your pain, your heartaches, and your struggles and I am here for you!” Isn’t that beautiful to know that God can send us to be His hand extended to the broken, down trodden, abused, battered, sick, or neglected? That He can actually take our ashes and turn them into beauty? Yes, He can!

I have had three pregnancies, three children, and I have three adults. We have been blessed. Of the three pregnancies, two were difficult, life threatening deliveries. Two of our babies were fighting for their lives before they had a chance to live. I know the challenges that come with that. I know the fears, the sleepless nights, the tears, the guilt of what did I do to bring this on. I know! But God comforted me as only He could! And when I had a chance to reach out and comfort a young mother who was going through that I didn’t have to search for the words of comfort, because I knew what comforted me.

When one of my dearest friends died from cancer after I and so many others were believing for a miracle, my heart hurt in a way I couldn’t imagine. But God comforted me. When my brother died in his apartment and we didn’t discover it for a couple weeks, the shock and pain that hit me was almost unbearable. But God comforted me. And since those incidents, I have had to comfort others with the same and similar incidents. The comfort with which I was comforted was a vehicle of comfort to another.

Some things I haven’t experienced and I am not able to articulate the grace given by God to overcome them. I have never been divorced, but if you have been and you survived, then God has given you a powerful weapon to use to comfort someone else who might be facing a divorce. Maybe you’ve lost every thing because of drugs, alcoholism, or some other addiction, but God brought you out. Guess what, it wasn’t just for you, but it was so that you could also be there for someone else who may experience the same thing.

Most of the time, when we are going through we can only focus on ourselves and our problems. At least that is the way I am. And probably you, also. But once you recognize the blessing of grace given to you to walk victoriously through a thing, then God expects you to help someone else get their victory.

The world gets it! A son is killed by a drunken driver and a mom starts a movement MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). A loved one is taken from this life via cancer, and pink ribbons and marches are started all over the world. A teen is shot in a high school and the parents go around the country sharing their grief and why we need more gun control and then reach out to parents who experience the same thing. They take their pains and heartaches and reach out to others with the same pain to make a difference in the lives of others who are experiencing what they went through. Some times we as Christians are the last to catch on.

Shame, guilt, pride and a host of other negative emotions keep us selfishly attached to our tribulations, when God says to us, “Let me show you how to get through this, and then go and show someone else how to be free.” Then the comforted can become the comforter.

You see, it’s not just enough to get a victory, we have to learn how to help others get their victories. Not to start an organization or a movement, but out of a sincere desire to see someone set free. So I ask you, what has God comforted you with? How has He worked things out for you? What situation, circumstance, or tribulation has He brought you through? Whatever, it is or was, He did it for your good and for the good of others! For freely you have received and freely He expects you to give. Wonderful Jesus!

    • The Inexhaustible God!

Posted at 2:57 am by wonderfuljesus8, on October 20, 2019

Ephesians 3:20 – Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.

Inexhaustible means “incapable of being used up, of being wearied or worn out! That’s our God! He has an unlimited supply source of everything we stand in need of. And when I think of Him as the inexhaustible God, for some reason, I think of Abraham!

In the book of Genesis, Abraham is chosen by God to be the father of His people. But the problem is that Abraham and his wife Sarah are childless. God calls Abraham away from his family and all that is familiar to him and Abraham leaves. Yet every time God spoke to Abraham He talked of Abraham’s descendants, of the land Abraham would receive, of the blessings that would be his, but Abraham was still childless.

Then one day after God shared all that He had in mind for Abraham, Abraham stopped Him and asked, “What good are all your blessings if I don’t have a son to leave it to?” Isn’t that amazing that Abraham would stop God in the midst of His proclamation over him and point out that he didn’t have a son? I would think that he would just keep nodding his head in agreement with God. But no! He wanted to know what good was all this wealth and this land, and all these promises if there was no one to leave it to! But you know what? I think God was waiting for that question, for He already had an answer! Isaac! And although Abraham produced an Ishmael, God still produced His Isaac. And then He did the unthinkable for Abraham and gave Him many more sons and daughters. In the United States Abraham has over 5 million descendants who are alive and well. That’s abundance!!

How about when Abraham was told about Sodom and Gomorrah’s upcoming destruction. Abraham asked God if he would destroy the city if there were fifty righteous there. God said He wouldn’t! Then Abraham continued, asking about forty-five, then forty, then thirty, until he got to ten. You would think that God would have been tired of the conversation by the third or fourth time, but He didn’t get tired of Abraham, or his requests. He patiently answered him until Abraham was at peace that he had done all he could to save the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah. He wasn’t successful, but he had successfully tried to save them. And in the process, God wasn’t worn out or weary with him.

These accounts in Genesis are just a tip of the iceberg of the abundant faithfulness of our loving God to His people. When we consider how He dealt with them in “biblical” times, how can we even doubt the goodness that He has in store for us.

Paul wrote, “that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think!” Paul was in essence letting us know that we serve the God with no limit to His power; even if there is a limit to what we could think or ask for, God’s abundance, His supply, His power has no end!

Recently I heard someone say, in probably true humility, “God if you never do another thing for us, You’ve already been so good!” This is so true! Rather we acknowledge it or not, it is a genuine truth that He has been so good to us. But guess what, no matter how good He has been to you, to that individual, to me, He still has more good in store for us! He doesn’t give us a few blessings and say, “that’s enough for her, for him!” Not our God. As a matter of fact, “eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, all that He has planned for us” so we can be sure that there is so much more to come!

To the Romans Paul wrote that God had given us Jesus! Glory Hallelujah! And Paul wrote that if God did not withhold His Son from us, how will He not with Him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32) Not some things, not a few things, but all things. It sounds to me like He’s going out of His way to bless us and He’s not holding anything back! All of heaven, (can you imagine it), at our disposal? I know it’s hard for me to imagine, also. But it’s true! He’s really working for our good and there is so much proof to confirm that!

Does your heart sing praise for His goodness to you? It should! But it’s not over! He’s only just begun to pour out His blessings upon you. Look for it! It’s coming, because He is the inexhaustible God, and He is your God! You haven’t worn Him out with your requests. You can’t! He isn’t tired of you, and He never will be. A powerful love for you keeps Him in the thick of things with you. Learn to trust Him and His love for you and you will experience His abundance like never before. I know I am. Wonderful Jesus!

    • My Heart Rejoices!

Posted at 9:33 pm by wonderfuljesus8, on September 14, 2019

Psalm 19:8a- “The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart:”

The Hebrew word for statute is “hoq”. It means “statute, prescription, rule, law,or regulation. It is derived from the Hebrew word, “haqaq” which means “to cut in, determine, or decree”. According to the Vine’s “in a general sense it refers to the “laws” of nature like rain. Psalm 148:6 states that he hath established the celestial bodies forever. But the most important meaning is in reference to the law, which correlates with our text. Yahweh’s statutes, decrees, law, or determinations about nature, mankind, or anything else is right!

Right means morally right or straight. People look for all kinds of loopholes in the laws of man, but there are no loopholes in the laws of Yahweh. He said what He meant and He meant what He said. Barak found this out when he tried to curse the children of Israel as they made their way to the promise land. God had decreed that they were blessed, so Barak couldn’t curse them, but ended up blessing them also. He finally had to say, “God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should repent. Has He said it, and shall He not do it. Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19) We need to start taking God at His word! He will keep His word to us!

Then we look at the phrase, “rejoicing of the heart”. I don’t know about you, but my heart rejoices at the decrees of God. When I think of decrees I always think of the decree King Nebuchadnezzar made in chapter three. The one where he decreed that when the music was played everyone had to bow to him or be thrown in the fiery furnace. Then the music sounded and the three Hebrew boys refused to bow. So because of the decree they were thrown in the furnace. Or the decree in the book of Esther when King Ahasuerus gave Haman permission to destroy the Jews? Remember how Esther had Haman and the king over for dinner and she exposed Haman’s plot against the Jews? In chapter eight she asked the King to reverse the decree and the king’s response to her was: “for the writing which is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.” If this is true of the earthly king, it is even more true of the heavenly King. No man can reverse what He has decreed. So that is reason to rejoice! This is what He said about His word, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” His word always produces. That’s reason to shout!

What has He said about you?

      • You are blessed!

      • You are healed!

      • You are prosperous!

      • You are the head and not the tail!

      • You are the righteous of God in Christ Jesus!

      • You are an heir and a joint heir with Jesus!

      • You are more than a conqueror!

      • You are the Blood bought Church, the redeemed!

So the next time you are feeling as if it is too hard to follow and obey the statues of the Lord, please remember, that His statues are His decrees that are meant to bring joy to your heart! He was and is looking out for your best interest and mine. His statutes gives us reason to hope and to move forward in life! Embrace His decrees and know that they are there for the rejoicing of your heart! Wonderful Jesus!

    • Our Adversary, the Defeated Foe!

Posted at 5:12 pm by wonderfuljesus8, on August 20, 2019

1 Peter 5:8 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. NKJV

I have found that I am not overly fond of discussing the devil because I think that even negative attention is loved by him. But today, for a few minutes, I will.

The devil, known as Satan, is our adversary! Plain and simple. Many people try not to think about or even acknowledge his utter dislike for them, but that’s exactly what he has for us. Or even better, absolute hatred!

An adversary is one’s opponent in a contest, conflict, or dispute. That certainly describes the devil. He is our opponent. Plain and simple. He is a constant threat to us and all that we hold dear because of the fact that we are special to God. Not just those of us who are born again, but mankind in general. He hates us all!

Jesus called Satan a liar, a thief, a robber, a murderer, and a destroyer! So if that is how Jesus identifies him, then we should know that he is never interested in anything but our demise.

Our adversary the liar. He tells us we’re sick, we’re dying, we’re never going to amount to anything, no one loves us, everyone is against us, God isn’t faithful, and the list goes on and on. When you hear this stuff, know it is coming from him! Don’t listen!

Our adversary the devil is a thief. “A thief is someone who steals something from someone in secret.” He comes to steal the word of God that God has spoken to us from the logos word, or through a rhema word. He comes to steal our joy, our peace, our reputation, our witness, our children, by any means necessary. He tries to wrap it up in other things like people and circumstances, but it is him!

Our adversary the devil is a robber. “A robber is not only usually seen by the victim, but also often injures or threatens to injure the victim (or use some other type of force) during the robbery.” That’s how he uses accidents, drug addiction, job loss, divorce and a number of other things. He’s bold when he does it and doesn’t care if you recognize he is the one behind it. Then he threatens you with fear, taunting and tormenting you, until you cave under the pressure! But it’s an all out attack from the devil and you don’t have to give in to it!

Our adversary is a murderer! Yes he is! Don’t ever think that pain or sickness is just that. He is trying to kill you! And if he can’t kill you, he will certainly put as much on you as he can! Don’t accept anything he throws at you as no big deal. It is a big deal!

He’s a destroyer of all that is good! He wants to destroy your witness, your home, your family, your finances, your business, your name, your peace, your relationships, and your health. I’m telling you, there is nothing in your life that is off limits to him!

So what is a person to do knowing that the adversary is constantly on the prowl looking for a way to bring on his attacks in your physical, emotional, financial, or spiritual beings? There are a couple things we can do:

      1. Be sober! The Amplified Bible states it like this: “be well balanced and disciplined.” Don’t live a life that is undisciplined. A disciplined life for the believer is a life that says “no” to the things of the flesh and “yes” to the things pertaining to godliness. An undisciplined person picks and chooses when to attend church, when to pray, when to go to the club, when to sleep around…A disciplined person reads and study God’s word, prays for strength and wisdom, fellowship with believers, have people they are accountable to, lives their life to please the Father, etc.

      2. Be diligent! Again, the Amplified states that we are to “be alert and cautious at all times.” This means, we should know the enemy and be mindful of how he acts. Don’t be afraid, just be alert. Years ago, I used to love to watch JAG. Rabb, a JAG lawyer had a nemesis named Palmer. In one episode, Palmer was in jail claiming to have seen the light. He promised to help the authorities to find the victims from his crimes. No strings attached, he just wanted families to have closure. Rabb didn’t buy it! He refused to believe a single thing Palmer said. Because of his diligence, he was one step ahead of Palmer when Palmer tried to escape, and bring harm to those who were with him. That has stuck with me all of these years. And it is so applicable to our lives and with dealing with the devil! We have to be watchful where he is concerned in order to enforce his defeat! He doesn’t change his goal, just his strategies. We know what he is up to and we should always be on the alert against him!

      3. Know that he is “looking” for someone to devour! It doesn’t have to be you! God pointed this out to me years ago, when someone I thought was “the one to look up to spiritually” fell. I was so shaken that I made the comment that if that person fell, surely I couldn’t live for God! God told me that simply was not true. The devil will always be looking, but we didn’t have to be in a place where he could devour us! When he looks at me, all I want him to see is the Blood!

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to play with the devil and take him on in their flesh! We don’t war in the flesh with the devil! We cannot beat him at his game! But our Savior, Jesus, has already beaten him! Whipped him up, tied a noose around his neck, and made a public spectacle of him in the heavenlies! Our Savior, and Elder Brother don’t take his mess and the devil knows it! Now he needs to be made aware that neither do we!!

Don’t be scared of the devil! He’s our defeated foe! I started this blog the way I did to just make you aware of some of his tricks! God is greater than he is. Jesus saw him kicked out of heaven. I imagined he had a good laugh over that one! But needless to say, He is unruffled by what the devil throws because He has already dealt with him! Now we need to do the same in the matchless Name of Jesus! Wonderful Jesus!
