Romans 8:32- “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” NKJV

He did not spare His only Son
but delivered Him up for us all!
Romans 8:32
God is so amazing! When we stop and think about how perfect His plan of redemption is, we should rejoice! Not a selfish plan to have subjects running around like puppets doing His bidding, but a selfless love that He pours on us! Isn’t He simply wonderful? Paul has mentioned many things in this chapter that are available to us as the people of God:
- There is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus!
- Those led by the Spirit are the sons of God!
- Those who have the Spirit of God belongs to God!
- Those in Christ can cry “Abba, Father”!
- Those in Christ and heirs and joint-heirs with Christ!
- Those who belong to Him will be glorified with Him
- God’s glory will be revealed in us
- The Spirit of God helps us in our weaknesses
- The Spirit of God makes intercession for us
- All things work together for good when we love Him and are called according to His purpose
- We will be conformed to the image of His Son
- If God be for us, who can be against us?
And although he has been very pointed in what he says God has for us, he penned the above verse letting us know that God has so much more! Nothing in this chapter reveals anything to us that could cause us to think that God is against us, that He doesn’t love us! Actually, it is really quite the opposite!
Let’s read the verse again:
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:32 NKJV
This verse puts me in mind of Abraham again. Remember when God told Abraham to offer Isaac up to Him on Mt. Moriah? As they approached the place, Abraham left his servants behind and went up the mount with Isaac, telling them that he and Isaac would return to them. When he got to the place to make the offering, Isaac wanted to know where the offering was at, and Abraham responded that God would provide. Then as Abraham drew his arm back to kill Isaac, the Angel of the Lord stopped him and then said this to him:
Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
Genesis 22:15-18 NKJV
Just as Abraham believed it would be, it was! He trusted the previous promises that God had made to him, so much so that he believed that if he killed Isaac, God would give him life again! And if God didn’t have him kill Isaac, there would be a sacrifice waiting to be offered. This faith in God was so impressive that even today, it speaks to me! After all of that, Abraham gave that a mountain a new name:
And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Genesis 22:14 NKJV
Just as the Lord provided for Abraham, by placing a ram in the bush, He will provide for us. I believe this is the whole point of Paul referencing this particular incident in Abraham’s life! That, and the fact that this very imagery would reflect what the Father Himself would do with His own Son!
This reminds me of another verse:
Yet the Lord was willing to crush Him, causing Him to suffer;
Isaiah 53:10 AMP
If He would give Himself as a guilt offering [an atonement for sin],
He shall see His [spiritual] offspring, He shall prolong His days,
And the will (good pleasure) of the Lord shall succeed and prosper in His hand.
Paul knew that scripture stated that God was pleased to crucify Jesus, and that Jesus was willing to be crucified; and the purpose was for the will of God to succeed. It was His will that we be reconciled back to Him!
- He isn’t withholding blessings, He is freely giving us blessings!
- He isn’t withholding salvation, He freely gives us salvation!
- He isn’t withholding healing or health, He freely gives us healing and health!
- He isn’t withholding finances, He freely gives us finances!
The psalmist wrote:
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows grace and favor and honor;
Psalm 84:11 NKJV
No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
In another letter, where Paul was explaining a similar topic, he wrote:
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God.
1 Corinthians 2:12 NKJV
Spiritual things, material things, emotional things…If it’s a thing, it is provided with His Son! The One He did not spare, Jesus, but delivered up for us all, is the gateway to receiving all things from God! Freely! No dangling it before us and then removing it from us to show us that we are undeserving!
Paul wants us to have a clear picture of God and all that was provided for us in Christ Jesus! God provides for us far more then we can imagine:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
So the next time you pray, you don’t have to beg God to do anything for you. You don’t even have to wonder if He wants to bless you, or provide for you! It is written:
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:32 NKJV
How great is your imagination? Mine is pretty big! God has so much more for me than I can imagine, and He has spared no expense. Let’s start receiving like we understand the preciousness of all He has done! Wonderful Jesus!
This was one of the verses I kept saying when I was being treated unfair at work. It helped me so much. Such a powerful verse for us to remember when we are facing hardships.
Blessings to you Sis.. 🙏😊
