Memorial Day Memories!

Proverbs 10:7-The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot. NKJV

I have shared before that my family and I love visiting historical sites. Although I am not fond of cemeteries, I have seen the Arlington National Cemetery and the Gettysburg Cemetery. I’m amazed at all the people who have died in service to our country and others worldwide. Without their willingness to pay the ultimate price for our freedom, we would not be able to enjoy those freedoms. So, I thought it appropriate to take a moment and thank the Lord for the many individuals who fought in wars or died in service to our nation. And also to acknowledge the families that supported them in their service and mourn their loss. May God’s hand continue to be with you and your family.

Solomon wrote in the Proverbs:

The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.

Proverbs 10:7 NKJV

This scripture tells me what history has repeatedly made known: that we honor those who fought for a righteous cause and vilify those who fought against those causes. Their memory is blessed. We celebrate them and remember their sacrifice. And in doing so, we remember those who supported them, loved them, prayed for them, waited for them, and ultimately lost them. God’s peace and love remain with you always. Have a blessed Memorial Day! Wonderful Jesus!

I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord as a child. Once, when I was still quite young, I knocked on a lady’s door to sell her something. I recall her telling me that I was going to be a preacher. When I was in high school I preached my very first message on Job. It lasted for a long time! LOL! By graduation, I knew that I had been called into ministry. My heart’s desire is to see the people of God understand and operate in the Kingdom of God. We really need to know that we serve an awesome and amazingly good God and our adversary the devil has no good thing dwelling in him. I’ve been preaching for over 40 years and I have never felt more energized to share the word of God than I do at this moment. My hope is that God will use this site to encourage His people to study His word, to trust Him more, and to grow in Him. I am also trusting that the people who are not saved who “stumble” onto this blog, will realize that Jesus is who they have been looking for and they will allow me to show them how to develop a relationship with Him. I may be the one writing this blog, but I trust that He is leading me in the writing. Be encouraged as your read the blogs posted on this site! Wonderful Jesus! Much love in Him! Dr. Martie Susberry
